Retrofit and Social Value at the Hermitage, Lewisham - Case Study

Introduction

Lewisham Council is a borough located in the South East of London. The area is the 12th most populated borough in London and the 5th most populous in inner London with a population of over 314,000 residents. With the borough’s population set to rise to nearly 390,000 by 2050, the pressure on housing is set to increase. Therefore, Lewisham Council have set out a robust housing strategy on their website to increase and improve the housing in Lewisham to meet the growing demand.

    Introduction

    This case study document highlights the retrofit project and subsequent social value commitment made by Lewisham Council. The ambitious and successful retrofit project at the Hermitage, a block of 28 flats, was followed by a social value project which tidied and enhanced the site for residents.
