This masterclass is designed for individuals seeking to understand how a retrofit residents' engagement strategy can accommodate various accessibility needs. The masterclass will address: accessibility considerations in retrofitting, communication strategies for accessibility, and practical approaches to engaging residents with accessibility needs.

Join us for an empowering peer session spotlighting how retrofit programmes can unlock meaningful employment and training opportunities for local communities. CARA EPS will share their experience delivering the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Wave 2.1 scheme in partnership with Southway Housing, where they created 10 permanent job roles for previously unemployed residents. Each role included either an apprenticeship or NVQ qualification, embedded within an 18-month retrofit programme. This session will explore how aligning objectives between contractors and housing associations—through integrated and collaborative working—can deliver long-term social value and targeted employment outcomes.

This in-person event is based on our online CPD accredited course. Our Resident Centred Retrofit course will equip you with the building blocks to create and deliver a successful resident engagement strategy, in order to support the outcomes of your retrofit projects. This event will feature presentations from experts, opportunities to ask questions and workshops with peers. The content will include: Module 1: Why deliver resident-centred retrofit? Retrofit programmes should create social value for the surrounding community. In this masterclass we will explain the fundamentals of social value, how it can be achieved, measured and monitored through the entire lifecycle of retrofit projects.

Retrofit is making homes more energy efficient, but without the change in how the residents are using the homes, the full benefits of the new energy efficiency won’t be realised. Taking place on Fuel Poverty Awareness day, this masterclass will look how we support residents to change behaviours to maximise the energy efficiency of their homes.
