Introduction
Ventilation is the exchange and flow of air into and out of a space. It is the interaction of the air inside the home with the air outside. There are 6 different types of ventilation; Natural ventilation, passive ventilation, intermittent ventilation, positive input ventilation, mechanical extraction ventilation and mechanical extraction ventilation with heat recovery.
This quick guide aims to address some common misconceptions in domestic retrofit regarding ventilation. The document has been designed to help local authority (LA) officers and registered providers advise residents about ventilation best practices.
